Phil Colgan is a performer choreographer, and instructor born and raised in NYC. A graduate of New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, Phil’s performance and production credits span across theater, dance and television.
Phil first got the performance bug after winning an on-stage dance contest at the Broadway revival of Grease in the 90s and hasn’t looked back since. Phil is currently a Universal Swing for Hamilton, performing in the Broadway and touring productions of the show after spending two years as swing & dance captain of Hamilton’s Philip Company. Other theatrical performance credits include performances at Paper Mill Playhouse, Maine State Music Theater, The Fulton, Ogunquit Playhouse, Gateway Playhouse, and Finger Lakes MTF. His television appearances include the opening number of The 2017 Tony Awards, The Michael Jackson Funeral Broadcast, “Good Day New York,” and Inside New York City Dance.
As a director/choreographer, Phil’s credits include Grease (Choreographer, Finger Lakes MTF), numerous productions at New York University, Pittsburgh CLO (associate dir/chor, Newsies), and events like DanceBreak 2020, Broadway Bares (associate, Bares 27: StripU), The Young Choreographer’s Festival, and showcases for Broadway Dance Center. Phil was named a finalist for The 2017 Capezio A.C.E. Awards (Award for Choreographic Excellence).
While pursuing his performance and production careers, Phil continues to teach at dance studios and conventions around the country, and is currently a faculty member at Steps on Broadway in NYC. (Phil Colgan)
