Upcoming (LEGENDARY!!!) guest Jonathan Dinklage and his awesome wife Kailee Graham are producing a Mother’s Day benefit concert at @thegreenroom42! And in case you can’t make it, there’s a livestream option as well!

Kailee has conceived this really beautiful show called “Uptown Mamas”, which will celebrate the community of New York artist mothers while supporting @safehorizon Uptown Domestic Violence Shelter. Kailee is singing, Jonny is playing the violin, they both produced it, and they will be joined by many other wonderful artists.

“Uptown Mamas” celebrates the community of New York artist mothers while also supporting this vital organization which is the largest victim service provider in the country, helping over 250,000 people each year who have experienced violence, abuse, or exploitation. The proceeds will directly benefit families residing in the shelter, helping to provide necessary resources and create a trauma-informed environment.

I’m super proud to amplify this badass event featuring performers from Uptown, Downtown, and Midtown, who have graced Broadway, Off-Broadway, National Tours, and The Metropolitan Opera.

But when she eventually booked Hamilton’s first national tour, Andy reminded her it was all about trusting the process. Easier said than done, but a good lesson nonetheless.

Shonica reflects on over ten years of Hamilton, explaining how her life experiences (being a mother, experiencing a pandemic, the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement) have changed her approach to the show. But guess what? She still looooooves it. She loves and respects all the time it took to really get it right and as Shonica says, “they didn’t microwave it.”

Shonica Gooden (Hamilton Broadway’s Woman 4) was born and raised in Atlanta, where she focused on what was supposed to be a thriving modern dance career. She had zero interest in musical theatre and didn’t see herself as a triple threat. Luckily, her teachers at DanceMakers of Atlanta did see her as a triple threat and strongly encouraged Shonica to audition for Bring It On. This led to callbacks and work sessions with Alex Lacamoire and Andy Blankenbuehler, and it would prove to be the start of a beautiful friendship with The Cabinet.
